Internment

 

Currently I am listening to Internment by Samira Ahmed.  A disturbing story about a United States in which Muslim Americans are forced to live in internment camps.  A thought provoking read!

Quan Banks and Justyce McAllister grew up in the same Atlanta neighborhood, but Justyce attends Yale while Quan is behind bars at a youth detention center.  How do two young men from the same neighborhood end up in such different circumstances?   In a series of letters to Justyce, Quan tells the story of decisions that he made and ones that were made for him.

This sequel to Dear Martin is a must read!  If you have not read either, start with Dear Martin.

Reading now: Girls with Rebel Souls

The third book in a series about a group of girls attending a prestigious private school that find out a disturbing secret about themselves and their school. The girls find themselves fighting no only for their lives, but for all girls in a society where women are treated as objects. 

To be honest, not as enjoyable as the first 2 books, it probably should have been a duology instead of a trilogy.  I loved book one, it had a good amount of suspense and plot twists, but book three seems repetitive and there often doesn't seem to be much really happening. I recommend books one and two, but this one is a bit disappointing.
